WHY

Independent

Matters

We believe the best pubs aren’t created in boardrooms or by head offices – they’re built by the people who unlock the doors every morning and lock them each evening.

Being independently owned means we make our own decisions. We don’t answer to head offices or national buying lists – we answer to our guests and to ourselves.

We choose our wines because we love them. We keep our ales with the care they deserve. We work with trusted local suppliers who share our passion for quality, because we believe great pub food starts with great ingredients and the people behind them. We know many of our regulars by name, and we take just as much pleasure in welcoming someone visiting Manchester for the very first time.

It’s the traditional way of running a pub – and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

HISTORY OF

The Oxnoble

Rooted in Castlefield
Est. 1804

For more than two centuries, The Oxnoble has stood proudly in the heart of historic Castlefield, part of a neighbourhood shaped by canals, industry and the people who built Manchester.

Our name is part of that story too. The Oxnoble takes its name from the Ox Noble potato, once unloaded at nearby Potato Wharf when the Bridgewater Canal was at the heart of Manchester’s thriving trade.

Today, Manchester may look very different, but some things haven’t changed. We’re still a place to meet, eat, drink, stay and enjoy good company.
